Long ago, much time, Mr. Itzamná decided to create a land that was so beautiful that anyone who knew her would want to live there, in love with its beauty. Then he created the Mayab, the land of the elect, and sowed in it the most beautiful flowers that adorn the roads, created huge cenotes whose crystalline waters reflect sunlight and deep caves full of mystery. Then Itzamná new earth gave the Maya and chose three animals to live forever in the Mayab and who think of them remember him immediately. Itzamná were chosen by pheasant, venison and rattlesnake. The Mayans lived happily and took care to build palaces and cities of stone. Meanwhile, the animals chose Itzamná never tired of traveling the Mayab. The pheasant flew up the highest trees and their cry was so powerful that he could hear all the inhabitants of this land. The deer ran like the wind and light
Snake moved their bells to produce music in its path.
Such was life in the Mayab, until one day, chilam, or Mayan seers saw in the future something that caused them great sorrow. So they called all the people to announce the following: We have to give them news that will cause much pain. Soon we will invade men from far; They bring weapons and fight against us to take our land. Maybe we can not defend the Mayab and lose.
Hearing the words of chilam, pheasant immediately fled into the jungle and hid in the grass, as he preferred to stop flying so that the invaders did not find him.
When the deer knew he would lose his land, he felt a great sadness; then he cried so much that her tears formed many watery. From that moment, the deer very wet eyes they were, like I was always sad.
No doubt who else was angry to learn of the conquest was the rattlesnake; she decided to forget his music and fight with enemies; so he created a new sound that occurs when moving the tail and now uses before attacking.
As chilam said, foreigners conquered the Mayab. But still, a famous Mayan soothsayer announced that the three animals chosen by Itzamná fulfill an important mission in their land. The Mayans still remember the words he once said:
? While the ceiba trees are standing and caves of the Mayab remain open, there is hope. The day will come when we will regain our land, then the Maya should meet and fight. They know that the time has come when they receive three signs. The first is the pheasant, who will fly over the tallest trees and its shadow can be seen throughout the Mayab. The second signal will bring the deer, then pass through this land in a single bound. The third messenger will rattlesnake, which occur again and this music is heard everywhere. With these three signals, animals warn the Mayans it is time to reclaim land taken from them.
That was the announcement of the seer, but the day has not yet arrived. Meanwhile, three animals are prepared to be ready. Thus, the smooth pheasant wings, deer sharpening their claws and snake rubs his bells. Just waiting for the moment to be the messengers that bring the Maya to recover the Mayab.
